4 Layer Dessert

Here is a great dessert recipe that my mom used to make a lot when I was a kid. It is a great recipe for potlucks, picnics, parties when you need something sweet to eat. This dessert would win a prize if there was a rich and decadent category, a little piece will do ya because it is just so rich, but oh so yummy!.

With this recipe, the original recipe calls for chocolate pudding but you can also use banana, pistascio, butterscotch, or any other pudding flavor you like. With the banana, I think that sliced up bananas would be good in it as well with some bananas as garnish. I just have not tried that yet, but sounds good.



4 Layer Dessert

1st Layer:
1 1/2 sticks butter
1 1/2 cups flour
1 cup finely chopped nuts (I use pecans but you can use any nut as long as it is finely chopped)
Combine until mealy. Pat into bottom of 8x13 inch baking dish and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Chill (do not add Layer 2 until crust has cooled completely in the fridge)

2nd Layer:
1 - 8oz cream cheese
1 cup powdered sugar
9 oz Whip Topping (I buy an 18 oz tub and just use half and save the other half for the last layer)
1 tsp vanilla
Whip together and add on top of Layer 1. Chill.

3rd Layer:
1 4 serving box of instant chocolate pudding (or any other flavor you choose)
1 4 serving box of instant vanilla pudding
(these are the smallest box of pudding mix)
3 cups milk
1 tsp vanilla
Mix together and add onto Layer 2. Chill until pudding is thickened.

4th Layer:
Top with remaining whip topping. Garnish with chopped nuts, miniature chocolate chips, or chocolate curls/shavings.

When I do garnish, I love chocolate so I buy a Hershey Bar and just grate it with a cheese grater slowly to make the chocolate curl. Then I leave a couple pieces of the Hershey bar on top or on the side to complete the garnish.

Each layer of this cake has a lot of goodness.
Tip about the photo - I learned that using the "macro" setting makes a sharper image for close ups.
